Global Mercy Foundation is involved in helping more than 2000 widows living in the Sunderbann, West Bengal. We have three Training Centers with sewing machines for stitching classes so that they learn to take orders from the market and become self-supporting. 60 (2 batches) widows now are self-supportive with their daily earnings.
Recent monsoon floods affected their settlements very badly. Attached are the photographs taken recently.
We need urgently:
1. Tarpaulins to cover their houses and sleeping areas -500 nos X Rs 300 each = Rs 1,50,000
2. Temporary repairs to their houses constructed with mudwalls, washed out.- 80 x Rs 30000 = Rs 24,00,000/-
Pray that the local government will provide access roads to their settlements.
